A case series documenting the Japan Social Innovation and Investment Foundation’s ten-year role in building Japan’s impact economy ecosystem. Authored by Skoll Centre Visiting Fellow Gayle Peterson, it draws on 60+ stakeholder interviews and includes four investment-led case studies illuminating early fund design, cross-sector partnerships, systems change, gender equity, rural entrepreneurship, community wealth building, and community inclusion in impact measurement and management.

Japan’s Impact Economy on Film

A five-film series documenting the Japan Social Innovation and Investment Foundation’s decade-long role in shaping Japan’s impact economy ecosystem. Featuring SIIF leaders and partners, the series explores early fund development, cross-sector collaboration, deliberate leadership insights from Nanako Kudo, rural entrepreneurship through A0 Group, and opportunities for fishing communities within Japan’s ocean economy. Each film surfaces practical lessons on systems change, ecosystem building, and community inclusion for academics and practitioners globally.

Re-evaluating Investment Risk and Return

Co-authored by Christin Juel, Skoll Centre Fellow Alex Nicholls, and Anna Woźniak, this report examines the long-term efficacy of conventional valuation tools and presents the Outcomes-Based Net Present Value (ONPV) model, an enhanced investment framework which better accounts for uncertainty, long-term risks, and social and environmental value.
